If i had the spare cash (Which i never will, i would buy MS products) but until then ill stick with openoffice
but good find
could be useful to some people around here
I stumbled across a web site the other day that claims it will sell you MS Office 2007 Ultimate Edition for under £40! After checking further, it seems it is actually run by Microsoft itself and is designed to give students the chance to have some cheap software. Now being a little bit over schooling age (!) I registered in my sons name (with his consent - obviously) and he got an email back, with a link to a log in page. I followed the instructions and have now got MS Office 2007 on its way to me. It did cost £47 cause I wanted the disks but you can download it for under £40. This package, according to Microsoft, would set you back £599!!
I know there are ways and means of getting it free but this is legal.
The only requirements are that you are in full tme education, have a valid .ac.uk email address and are in a place of learning for 15 or more hours per week.
The web site is www.theultimatesteal.co.uk
(When I ordered the confirmation said that the backup discs would be with me with 14 days. Well I ordered on Monday night and they arrived today and now MSO 2007 is installed and running!)

I'm not sure what version of office 2007 i've got, but it cost me ~£17 direct from MS. I also got a copy for Mac aswell for the same price.
it was on the Home Use programme with my last job!
the plan was to sell them for a profit on ebay, but never go round to it, it's still in the cellophane
