    CAT C Problem

    Hi.

Me and my partner are having a debate. "Think thats how you spell it"

My car is a CAT C, it needs a VIC check.

When i do an online insurance quote, they don't ask if its been writen off or states if it is a Catorgary write off!?

Do i call them up and tell them with the ref code that is has been involved in an accident and is a CAT C? Or just go along with the quote online like normal and pay for the insurance?

I thought they would know from me giving them my Numberplate?

As i need to take it for a VIC check and without insurance i can't get it to Gillingham for a VIC test?

So where do i stand? Any help please!

    "It has MOT & TAX"

has it got a new mot on it? cos it needs a new mot, then vic check.

and you just insure it like a normal car online...

When its sorted you just insure it normally, i've insured a cat C and D with no issues.

Ok kool. As Beau said, it needs another new MOT before VIC TEST. Is this true? Also would it need another MOT before i can drive it? Even tho its MOT till September.

Is it that hard to understand?

YOu need insurance to drive on the road.

You need an MOT before you take it for a VIC.

If you cant get insurance because its currently written off then you need to trailor it about.

See... What are you trying to explain there? Its been written off and fully repaired. I am going though a quote of like £1,200. I haven't told them its a CAT C. Well they didn't ask. So if i go ahead and pay for the insurance. I'm all legal. Plus i got a new 12months MOT on it?

Without a VIC it isnt legal. It might work on the road but its effectively still a written off car. If the police stop you you dont have a leg to stand on, technically.

    Right..

    Just to confirm..

I need to get another new MOT for it to be Valid.

Then i can book the VIC TEST.

I'm allowed to drive it to and from the VIC TEST.

I don't have to tell the Insurance its a CAT C.
