    right

don't bother with Full HD unless you can spend more money.

Lots of manufacturers are making full HD panels which are 1080p on static images, but go BELOW 720p when things start to move. It's a buzz word, like selling a Punto, calling it a turbo, then finding it runs 1psi of boost!

I dont sell LG, Samsung or any of that Korean crap. Despite what the reviews say.

For me its either Sony, Toshiba, or most often, Panasonic.

Fact is you want as deep a contrast ratio as possible (8000-10,000 on LCD) and if budget allows, you NEED 100hz OR Plasma

For your budget i'd suggest Panasonic Plasma.

10,000:1 contrast Ratio, near 100hz performance, HD Ready

Award winning set is the TH-37PX70

currently an outgoing model so LOTs of deals going on at the moment. Should be some dealers offering these below £600. Make sure you get a pedestal model if you aren't wall mounting.

don't be spellbound by Full HD, glossy surrounds and other folly. Concentrate on a DECENT foundation and good performance in all aspects.

    Hope that helps

btw 360 looks AWESOME on this set.

The reviews on this model are very very good indeed. I'm found several for just shy of £600 so perfect really. The 42" version is another £150, would you say it's worth the extra?

Samsung lacks quality. the only brand ive consitently had problems with. plus thier LCD looks washed out compared to better brands. IMHO

Chris, £150 extra for the 42" IS worth it, but it's wether you want the bigger screen or not. both sets are really good.

    hope that helps mate

Nice one Mook, thanks for that.

Is there anything else worth looking at for no more than £750?

If you can find one at the price, the TH-42pZ70, i.e. the full HD plasma is awesome, but i think it's still going for circa £900
