You can't make a sweeping statement like that. Granted some suffer from crank walk, just like some of the early Subarus are supposed to suffer failure on piston three.Originally Posted by GTBen
That doesn't mean that every Evo IV is going to have that problem. My brother has an Evo IV and has had no problems. We recently sold our WRX and never had their supposed inherant fault.
A lot of it is down to how people look after things. You hit the nail on the head when you said maintainance isn't cheap. That is the main reason they fail, people buy them the realise they can't afford to run them properly.
I'd buy any Evo in an instant if the time was right.

fact is,the 4 engines suffer from crank walk. Its a fact. So i wud get a 5 if u can stretch.
