I'm in a position now where i can afford to insure a 20vt for just £340 a year TPFT, i'm only 22 and have no NCB as i've not had an insurance policy in my name as of yet, i've been driving 5 years now though.
What are the pro's and con's of each from peoples experience and which would you choose?

I always said if I was getting one it would be the 16v turbo as you can buy more tuning gear for them and see some good power.
However my mates recently got a 20v turbo, and **** me its quick. Its hard to explain, but it has 3 power bands in each gear. Still never been in a 16v turbo, but after being in my mates 20vt I wouldnt bother with the 16 anymore.

Not true any more. Depends one what power delivery you like, 16VT is more nothing then BANG whereas the 20VT is a bit more linear.
20VT has to be your best bet really because; all 16vt's are getting on a bit now; it's easier to get decent second hand parts for (cos you will need them) and 260bhp can be seen with only a £25 chip.

u do know that they in either insurance group 18 for the 16vt and 19 or 20 for 20vt

just out of interest is the coupe based on its own chassis or is based on a hatch back like the audi tt is
I would take a 2.0 20VT any day, simply because it sounds SO good.. (And my mate made 340Hp in one with no real trouble at all.....)
Its based on the Tipo as far as I remember...
