you cant i dont think
i have no music in my iTunes, how do i get it all back off my iPod in one go?
there are some various 3rd party downloads i have seen being used to get mp3's straight off the iPOD, but as standard and a general rule form Apple (to protect against litigation) they have disabled the function of browsing your mp3's on your iPOD like an external HDD.
This is why all copies of MP3's must be kept on backup with an iPOD. If the PC dies and thus loosing your library, you've lost your MP3's.
Google it.. loads of hacks avaliable
i know on my sony 20gb i can open it as an extra drive from my computer and copy and paste the files to my comp. takes a while with 20gb of music maybe you can do the same with the ipod but i aint sure as i dont have one.

the iPOD will allow this, but not allow you to directly copy MP3's from it.Originally Posted by LeeMcC

It's true. I think Apple most probably did it however to avoid any record companies, like SONY from approaching them to see how well protected the media on them is. I.e. can music be 'freely distributed'.
i can open my ipod as an extra drive and browse/copy/paste all of the mp3's.
i have a paid for copy, of anapod explorer if any1 wants to buy?
