personal opinion
punto is definately the looker of that group plus 6 speed box
pug will handle nicely but also be aper thin
vtr, never been a fan of them to be honest awful interiors and paper thin again. saving grace handle very well
zetec s decent looking motor and nippy enough
id defo go punto due to the best all round package and can look very nice if modded well, just speak to wozza he has an excellent example of an mk2 elx 8v
failing that zetec

Punto know it all
the quickest is the vtr, then zetec-s/quicksilver then punto.
best handling vtr/zetec-s/quicksilver all about even then punto.
out of the group, I would go for the zetec-s.

my last car was a zetec-s, handling although not as good as the Williams is not a million miles away, superb chassis balance and so adjustment can be made on the limit and still feels safe and easy to control. not that quick tho...

I'd choose the Zetec-S out of that lot, followed by the punto.

vtr cannot beat a zs! i use to have a zs and the standard book figure of 10.2 secs 0-60 from ford is with a full tank of petrol and 3 people in it!
ford done that so they could get the zs into a lower insurance bracket!

yeah I owned the Zetec S too, I'd say the 0-60 is about right, as my Williams does it in 7.7 according to Reno and it feels about 20 times faster... having said that I had plenty of encounters with VTR's and there was never much in it until 70ish where the 8 extra valves seem to come into play.
