yep, if u seperate the head from the block u will need a new head gasket when putting it back together.. u dont have to wait for it blow up
getting a check on my engine tomorrow but i was told today i'll have to pay for a new head gasket as soon as they strip it down?!

i don't understand why? it's just a thin bit of metal, why can't you reuse it, why does it warp?
and how much are they?
Not much, its just a gasket!
like £5 or like £50?
nearer £5
trust me its not worth the risk at all!
fair enough!Originally Posted by smgs
i don't even have £5 to spare tbh like!
The gasket itself isn't metal, its some weird plasticy compound, it sticks to the head and to the cylinder block when its clamped between them and it falls to bits when you take the head off. Hence it'll need a new one unless you want everything to leak!
You shouldn't reuse the head bolts on the FIRE engines either...
oh right that makes sense then! is teh 16v a fire or not?
the 1.2 16v is a fire yes. See www.clubfirepower.co.uk for more details.Originally Posted by b-force
