The first number is the speed it writes to CD-Rs
Second number is the speed it writes and rewrites to CD-RWs
The third number is the read speed of CDs.
They are cheap as **** these days.
Right i'm bidding for a cd re-writer on e-bay but i know nothing about them, what does 52X24X52 mean?

right i'm not guaranteed, but i'm pretty sure it means
it'll read cd's at 52x speed
it'll write cdr's at 52x speed
and it'll write cdrw's at 24x speed
i think
oops only if the cdrs are 52x speed or above though

The make is artec, so not a bad make, never used them but i've heard they are good
the p&p is a bit of a rip off as it cost me £3.50 to send a cd-rw a couple of months ago, and it cost £4.95 to send it recorded delivery.
About £25-30 in PC World.
They are all much of a muchness when it comes to them nowadays, most would be fine
Sorry i didnt reply sooner.
I lost out on the one i was bidding for, but its an external one as i got a laptop so it'll have to connect via USB.
