Metal expands when hot... You'll get some piston slap from cold I guess.. What's the mileage on that bottom end.
Just bought a bottom end from a user on here, however the piston heads move from side to side and forwards and backwards.
I made a video of it, so what do you guys think?

Listen to the second one, you can hear it more clearly than the first. And all of the pistons do this by the way, not just 1 and 4.

89k I was told, from a GT3.
Anyone any ideas on what I can do? Doubt I'd be able to get a refund... Spoke to my local engine rebuilder and he won't touch Punto GT's so not sure what to do now
Won't touch Punto GT's? Why's that? Don't know what he's doing?
1997 Fiat Punto GT Abarth - being restored
2014 Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake
Rebuild yourself its not that hard your be fine people on here will help ya and theres alot of how to guides so go for it mate
He said because every gt engine he's done has gone again in less than 10k miles, obviously be must be doing something wrong then...
Do you still have your 81mm pistons for sale Jamie? Might do it that way, will only need my block honing out then I think?
unless the knob jockeys having the rebuilds done are whacking up the boost to silly levels and not running the engines in, sounds to me like that guy isnt up to the job. a punto engine is no different to any other of the same vintage.
to assemble a reliable engine it need to be cleaned as do all the parts and built up in a clean environment. tiny fragments of crud that are left on parts during a rebuild could lead to premature wear or failure.
You only have to go to any old garage and you know full well its not a suitable place to assemble a jigsaw, nevermind an engine...
