I remember xploit had that airbox on his GT1 a while back at an RR. IIRC he got an extra 8bhp by taking the enclosed one off and putting on a K&N.
No the afm is considerably bigger.. Im guessing its just got a samco reducer.

VVT's aren't very widely used on petrol engines simply because they can't deal with the stresses exerted on them by a petrol engine, very common on a turbo diesel though
fitted a vnt/vvt/vgt turbo whatever you want to call them, had a custom one on a gt about 6 years ago, they are a great design, but as andy said the std non water cooled turbo cant cope with the high exhaust temp produced by a petrol engine. it had early spool, mininal lag but was dead in 2000miles. they are fitted to 90% of diesel engines but its very common for the veins to carbon up and partially seize causing over boost. replaced/repaired 4 last month with this issue. everything has advantages and disadvantages.
