Yh services does make a difference
its servicing which keeps these cars going really, my old sportings engine killed it self after 85,000 but it had hardly been serviced, my sporting now is great engine, runs and sounds 100%.
Yh services does make a difference
Of course servicing affects the longevity of any car's engine, but some posters here seem to be making a lot of assumptions, to say the least.
Assumptions on what then? Wot not introduce some more facts to the conversation, help us all understand and maybe help abit more??
if a HG fails on a FIRE engine, you get the head skimmed. Anyone who doesnt, is taking shortcuts. The heads arent prone to warping UNLESS the HG goes.
Its just a guess, but maybe the OP's heads werent skimmed... That or a cracked head, or a warped block deck.
Head was skimmed on the two occasions I'm aware of.
Anyway, what's done is done, and this thread was more a generalised moan than a request for help.
I have bought another car (still have to get shot of the Punto, though. I need a photo before I can advertise it here), in a triumph of hope over expereince, another Fiat!
Partially taking the advice of my son ("Buy a Focus") , I have opted for something a little bigger, and maybe more suited to my lengthy commute. A 1.6 Brava. And although it's very 'family saloon', and not at all sporty compared to the Punto, I'm very pleased with it. It shares some of the good points I liked about the Punto (smooth gearchange, excellent heater, good sunroof, reasonable fuel comsumption), and I can only hope it gives me good service.
Anybody used any of these "we buy any car" websites? Any experiences? What about left-over road tax?
my headgasket on the gt was never changed unti 128,000 miles
Like the Murphys, I'm not bitter, seaney...
