Hi welcome buddy!
The handbrake light could be caused by low brake fluid level, make sure you check that as soon as possible.
Bought a Punto Sporting about a month ago, just got insured on it on Saturday, for a 1.2 they are awesome!!! I love mine! Its Silver, only thing is, when I go round corners a bit too fast the handbrake light comes on, is this a faulty sensor or something deeper?

two very good answers there mate id check the levels first as this runs the clutch to make sure you don't have a leaky slave cylinder also
Last time i had this problem was because the fluid was low, then put more fluid but it was still here so had to bleed ma brake and it was gone after.
Ah right, well, I have fluid in there, first thing I checked, (otherwise I wouldn't be a very good mechanic.) Could need bleeding, Don't know when it was done last as I've just bought it, I have service history but it just says that its been serviced, I'll be doing that tomorrow evening then. I wouldn't have thought it would know when the fluid was old.
Cheers everyone.
Saying all that, can it tell if there is air in the system?
If there is air in the system you will see the brake light come on sometimes then go away and keeps coming back every now and then, check your cylinder while you at it.
I'll have it in the workshop tonight.
Yeah bled them, hasn't been on yet.
