Stretched cable?
The 55 isn't full hydro clutch.
Either the master cylinder is knackered or you still have air in it.
You are having trouble selecting gears simply because you arent fully disengaging the drive to the gearbox.
I bet its air in it personally!
Stretched cable?

UPDATE:
Just tried to go the shop in it. put it in first, got up my road (lost gears) went to go round the block to come back on myself, could only find 3rd. when i got it on the drive it wouldnt select no gears but pedal was spongey (not dropped like when my slave cylinder had gone)
when the cars running it wont select no gears but when ignitions off it selects every single one?
As i said, you've either got a knackered master cylinder or air in the system.
You cant select gears because the shaft is still spinning in the box. And for that same reason, thats why you can select every gear with the engine off, because the input shaft in the box isnt spinning.
What does "isn't a full hydro clutch" mean when its at home?? Its either hydraulic or cable.
And if hes got a slave cylinder, it clearly isnt cable lol.
ok cool cheers lads. I'm going to bleed the system and go from there. if not its going the the scrap.
right ok, sounding stupid here possibly
do you mean master cylinder like this?

or this?

if you mean the second one, where is it located?
The first one is for brakes.
the second is correct. Its bolted on the bulkhead and pokes through into the clutch pedal. I think the two bolts that hold it on are accessed from under the dash behind the pedal.
Yes mate, that'll be the seals in your clutch master cylinder gone then
Pretty common to all cars with hydraulic clutches!
Might be worth while doing a brake fluid change on the car at the same time mate, an area that is far too often overlooked (the clutch shares the brake fluid). As brake fluid gets old it attracts water into it because its hygroscopic, that then makes all your brakes and pipes corrode from the inside out
Ah brilliant mate, cheers for that advice. thats tomorrows job sorted then .
