I got it done as I'm going away for a few months.
And I actually thought that they add the new onto the old.
I need to discuss with the misses the options as we were going to buy a 4k car in April andau trade this in now rather then then. Just need to find the cash. Will upload pics tomorrow.
They do add it on but only if its less than 1 month before the expiry of the old mot so you can have a maximum of 13 months mot.
How much would it cost you to repair it? it doesnt sound like its failed on much. You may be better repairing it then selling with a full mot - either that or trading it in now
They will only roll 30odd days over (and that's only if it passes).
If it fails, it's deemed no longer fit to be on the road... Quite obvious really as everyone would just get 2 mots a week apart and it would be valid for 2years (if that were the case).
Dude if it's just a bit of rust and you know somebody handy with a welder it'll cost about £6.50 and a couple of hours to sort it!
mine failed on rust on the seat bely anchor.. had them welded now, didn't cost much..
pasted on the welding now, just need to get it through the emissions Grrrr
cost me over £500 so far to try n get it back on the road..
just get them welded, maybe drive it for a few months n then sell

Can you show me where this is stated, as far as I'm aware the mot is valid till it expires regardless of new testing?
