to be fair to john and not taking anyones side, but ive been a admin member on two forums now and both of them i could read pm's willy nilly.

Not saying its the case here though, just putting my 2cents in (only cause there prob worth more than 2p now!)

lol very true guys, however i'm pretty sure on this verison of vBulletinn you cannot read them, and peoples passwords are held on a different server.
