pics?
Hi one of my mates is looking to swap his White mk2 golf gti for a punto gt it has got a audi 1.8 20v normally aspirated engine it has standalone cosworth management wasted spark etc body is in mint condition interior is also pretty good it has one half leather recaro driver seat
pics?
out of interest why has he put a 1.8 20v n/a in? im just wondering as it has only 10bhp more than the 1.8 8v gti engine or 10bhp less than the 1.8 16v gti engine. seems a lot of work for very little again.
info about the Golf my mate sent me
1991 H reg mk2 golf
1.8 20 valve NA ADR engine code from a audi A4
cosworth engine management with waste spark system
custom remap
4 branch manifold
KN filter
No CAT fitted due to age of car
Interior is good if not very dusty may shampoo it if I get chance has a recaro half leather drivers seat and the rest is standard no parcel shelf though
Exterior is white with a few stone chips but very straight for the age of the car no rot on the car at all it has the big bumpers on the car but it didnt have originally so the bottoms of the bumpers are very dark blue you cant really tell but would look loads better white and some lemon has put parking sensors in the rear bumper (there not connected) and there are no side strips on the car I was holding off for some original GTI ones but aint sourced any yet not that ive looked far
Underside is shockingly solid this car will require no welding for a long time yet
it sits on G60 steel wheels which look super cool and its lowered 40mm and handles well
Its has new rear calipers and a new master cylinder and im going to put a new timing belt, roller, tensioner and hydraulic tensioner on there before it goes as the tensioner is rattleing
in responce to the question regarding the engine conversion this car weighs alot less than a rear wheel drive audi along with the remap, 4 branch, kn and decat its not even comparable to a GTi 16v and eats VR6's too
it has MOT till july
the car at the moment runs a little rich in my opinion its adjusted by a little Potentiometer screw and could be adjusted by yourself with a little trial and error or ideally put on a gas anylizer and done to perfection ive just lived with it and drive it everyday it never really causes a problem
looking a GT pref a 94/95 but will consider newer bodywork not an issue aslong as its presentable but must run very well with no smoke or nasty knocks and must have MOT
He's going to try and get the pics up to me this evening
Rear bumper needs straightening it will be done its just one of those jobs that has been put off
sorry but it looks like a bit of a shed to me
