Exclamation the start of a love hate relationship

right i thought i would put this under a project it was never ment to be one however i got the itch. which has give our lass another head ache (just wait until the sun pops out and the bike comes out)

    right where to beging.....

well i bought this punto gt3 (nail) from keighley chucked it on the back of the car trailer and away home to the north east. Thinking I wont have much work to put it back on the road so i made a list of what was wrong and that list kept growing and growing. So my fast turn around with a bit of profit has now turned into a bottomless money pit and to top it off I have been caught by the power bug GREAT

if i remember goes something like this .... (which by the way is still growing)

front bumper not secure needs painting
side skirts cracked + need painting
rear bumper cracked + need painting
rear spoiler need securing and reairing + paint
bonnet has been shut with what looks like a rock at the side (needs bonnet)
    wiper missing
    mirror glass o/s missing
    front wheels curbed
    head lights loose

    now for inside...

    bonnet pull not working
seats held in with a couple of bolts
    wiring all over
    n/s electric window doesn't work
    o/s electric window doesn't work
    no boost reading on gauge
blue key goosed having to use the red
    air bag light on

under the bonnet....(this is where it gets interesting)

    boost pipes all over
    batt tray rotter
    batt flopping about
normal horn removed and air horn fitted but just resting next to the batt
    cam shaft cover leak
    sump leak
    2 dump valves fitted???
drive shafts loose FT meaning finger tight in this case
    wishbones had it
subframe big tear in in @ rear box mount
    rear gearbox mount shot
    n/s gearbox mount shot
hole in the floor where a stupid scissor jack has been used
    n/s calliper seized
    alternator not working
turbo has more crack than a dealer
    o/s cv joint knocking
power steering leak but fixed before i bought it hahah cheers what a swell guy!

and what makes me laugh i bought this in the jan and its mot'd till september 09 so if you want a moody mot al have alook see where it was done because the thing should never of passed and its impossible that it was fine on test day.

I will get some pics up soon of the beautie

They aren't hard jobs, but it depends on how long you want to keep it if you did repair it and do you have the cash to do it?

I would probably do it as there is so many being broke these days for minor faults, it would be good to have another decent GT on the road.

well i have started fixing it it isnt my daily runner and since i have the time i think am gonna do it bit at a time.
I am probs gonna regret it but I got the car for next to nothing and its keeping me from being board (he says for now)
i have the engine out which i am on de-greasing and painting up, thought i might as well do it properly
subframe is fixed and painted just waiting for my new mounts before i fit it back to the car, while it is off i think i will re-underseal the car.
brake pipes all look new and once i have fixed that small hole from the jack the underside will be like new
flywheel is off, might as well re-new the rear oil seal while i am at it and see about an up rated clutch
I thought I might as well go the full mile
Trying to get some bolts to mount the engine on my engine cradle is proving to be the hardest part so far. As soon as thats done I should be able to work alot quicker

I am going away for the weekend so I will have nothing to update for a bit just need to put some pics up of progress so far

not 100% sure how to add pics to this topic so I will bung them in that "my car" tab at the side

i would assume thats because you asked what to do with it. there would be no point making a project thread if you had decided to sell it/scrap it/break it. However now you have made your choie you have an opportunity to make a project thread.
