    Are 1.6 sportings reliable?

    just interested in getting one found a bargin one not too far away from me.

    ive seen a couple of people on here saying there not very good just wondered. Its done 91k full service history etc etc.

    Had mine just over a year and from 90,000 to 100,000 miles the clutch went,gearbox went bang and timing belt snapped and some other little things but other than that was a sound car.

    I got one just done 85k only prob I ever had was fuel pump died and gearbox went other than that fine

    I've never owned one but I've never understood why fiat bothered with it, you want economy get a 1.2, you want a bit of speed get a gt.

    ive had mine for two years matey! serviced it every 6 months or so! ive had no problems with it apart from radius arms! also a split airbox pipe!

    I'm pretty sure the 1.6 8v was released before the 1.2 16v mate think there is only 5 bhp between the two just the 1.6 has bit more torque don't quote me though

    ahh ok im getting myself a 1.6 sporting midnight blue 90k miles 4 months mot and tax lowered (shitty alloys but will change) full service history all keys and books new clutch £600 good huh

    is correct, 1.2 16v came out a year and a half later.

    I had a 1.6 sporting as my first car and went through 1 oil sump, 3 ecus, 1 wish bone and something else major
