oh ok, so just to clear up do you deduct 15% of the courier fee or do you not add postage to your price you charge VAT on?

    WHAT????

    simple -

everything a vat registered company invoice for, that is applicable to VAT has to have the VAT added

so therefore the VAT is added to everything

    eg-

    item A - £1000
    item B - £100
    Delivery £100

    Total £1200.00
    PLUS VAT

some companies include VAT on the listings
    EG

    item a + b delivered = £1380.00

but there is still vat on everything!!

on MY website, the vat is added at the checkout, but the delivery cost is preset including vat, however on the invoice the delivery is shown with out vat, then the vat is in its own column, the total payable is still the same

You are completely missing my point. I know how VAT works, and i know how you charge it.

    I give up.

    lol

    but what am i missing?

i cant put it any clearer than my 1st reply, but you still questioned it?

and you cant deduct 15%, VAT is added at 15% so, to deduct vat from an incusive total is 13.04%

Right, once more, its nothing to do with your VAT and carriage, its about the courier's VAT.

    All i was saying is

    - the price for delivery from the courier, that the courier gives you - includes VAT? - so you add that price for delivery to the total price for the customer

    - then add VAT to that - surely VAT has already been added from the courier, then you are putting that figure in the total for the customer and then putting VAT on that, so ultimatley, the VAT that the courier has already added onto his charge, then the fact that you put the delivery charge (with VAT already charged) into your total figure before adding VAT increases the overall charge to the customer?

Its not a dig at you, which i'm guessing you think it is with all the LOL faces.

    ok

    break down

everything i buy from a vat registered company has VAT on it, so i allreay pay the vat to them, but i claim that back from the vat man, but i then charge vat and give that to the vat man

what £ is charged is irrelavant, the vat is still paid to a supplier and charged to the customer, how ever big the circle

in essance, if your are suggesting that i shouldnt charge vat because it has allready been paid to the courier, then surely the courier shouldnt charge me vat, as he has allready paid vat on his mercedes wagon, and his fuel, and the workwear that the driver is wearing, but then i guess the mercedes dealer shouldnt charge the vat as they will allready of paid it to mercedes benz, and the truckstop shouldnt charge any vat becasue they will have paid it to shell, and the clothing company shouldnt charge vat as they have allready paid it for the cotton

and dont even get me started on the box, the bubble wrap, the packing tape, the fragile tape and the little clear envelope that the delivery label has to go in, should i not charge vat on the 'non-chargeable' packing fee that i dont charge to anyone?
