Car unlocking itself

Dont think the Mk1 has anything like that.

But thanks for the advise, im sure this will help fellow Mk2/mk2b owners.

dont know if its the same case with the mk1 but ...
on my mk2 the electrics are joined by the pins and the clip was lose so they kept slipping out. car wouldnt lock and was unlocking.
Im on about the black casing thats by the hinge of the door.

Ive disconected this and the car seems to lock/unlock ok and the car starts ok. Not sure what the box did or was.

All i know was it was quite warm/hot before i took it out.

Ill see if this has caused the problem.

Do you know what this box was by any chance?

Mine did this, as soon as you locked it it would unlock itself. I cured it by disconnecting and reconnecting one of the alarm modules located in front of the rear O/S speaker next to the parcel shelf.

Mine done this on Saturday at the track ??? It seems to do it only when its HOT out and the car is left in the direct sun-light??? I will try some of the above to see if that cures my problem..

Well it looks like that was my problem. I did a bit of investigating today and it seems that those wires are connected to the central locking, If you bridge a couple wires you can lock it and unlock it.

Mine did this too. I took door card off, checked door pin and metal were straight, covered the whole lot in wd40 and It's been fine since.

Maybe there is different failures? The box was quite hot when i took it off, so i am led to believe it has a fault. Next little prob i have it that the door adjar symbol dont work on the dash for either doors.

Bulb could have gone. You tried puttin another in its place.

yep. tried that. still didnt work. and no the bulb wasent blown. lol
