i usually drive my mates wrx around every other day. the handling is good, turbos are really laggy, think my mates is messed as the turbo doesnt kick in till 4k. get a short shift kit for it, makes the gears feel alot better. brakes are usually crap on the mk1 so some steel braided lines should make them respond better. if you drop it be carefull with the exhaust as it can hit on humps. good car but will kill you on fuel
Nice one mate although for me it would be a little costly to use and maintain, I will stick with my GT for now..But like you say handling is top notch, make sure she don't catch you out on a corner !!!!

he must have had a different turbo then...mine is an sti turbo and it starts to spool about 2900rpm and full boost by about 3500rpm-3700rpm

looks nice! my mate had a wrx for a while, got rid due to it being thirsty. but i agree, they do stick to the floor on roundabouts!
You woulden't have a scooby because you've heard a few horror stories on them, so you bought a GT?
Love the wheels on the scooby, just needs lowering and will look tops, good choice!
