Work PC's?

Does anyone know if your company can monitor what you go on on the internet whilst at work or is it just e-mails using your work account they can monitor?

I am sure they would be able to trace history.

mmm.. it was just today one of the guys came in and was like "aw I got flagged for two much swearing in my e-mails" and then continued on saying some woman at the main office gets alerted if any swearing and stuff are entered.

So just kinda hit me if they can do that surely they'll be able to watch what you go on online and im sitting on the internet ****ing about most of the day but nothings been said and thats been a year??

They prob can ! My company looks at the history that is logged under each user every now and then

But for some reason if you go on firefox it doesnt..... The joys of having your mates in I.T

most computers on a network can be watched, ie view what all the pc's are viewing.

when emailing also through the system they go to the admin pc first, this is where they can be filtered and checked.

would a data cartridge that goes into the server computer store all this information?

PSC lol.....nah but say when im doing my online banking is that not breaking some law if they view the account?

Would Have thought though by now that they would have said something..also i should add my work is at a construction site so the network will only be up for temporary would they even bother logging it all what people go on if its just one job?

it depends how the network is setup. and who the admin is.

i think a lot of companies use scare tactics, in my last job, i'd browse anything within reason - no pron etc, but now i work for the police, i'm a little (lot) more wary!

I'm in the IT department at my company.

Check your internet settings (if not locked down) and see connections. If there's a proxy filled in, then everything is tracked. (the web pages you've visited and what time) - you can remove the proxy but you won't be able to access the internet lol

Obviously due to data protection, our system does not have a screenshot of what you're viewing, just a log like:

As we have stated in our contracts that people are not to use Internet for personal use between 9 and 5 we have to ask people's managers for a legitimate reason for using facebook 6 hours a day.
