Wow, that motion blur makes any car look really dynamic. Even the Rover!
had a little go at this today, not at a track or any motorsport event, just in some trees next to a dual carrageway. was a lot harder than i thought it would be! took 400 or mor pics but barely a handful were any good! here's some of my best, see what you think, any tips advice from any pro's on here?
had to get a punto...
my 2 favourites i think... (just the pics, not the cars!)
and for comedy value, shame the pic was schit

nice pic mate does make them look like they are going quick.... and owen less of this rover business aswell
I'm not a pro but I think the lens is the downfall here. I assume its the kit 18-55mm? Being at full tilt it struggles to focus. Did you set it to continual focus?
It's not so much that it would struggle to focus, more the fact that when fully zoomed in any movement by the person holding the camera is exaggerated.
how did you get that effect? it looks really smart!
is it SLR?
Cool pictures, ive always wondered how those kind of shots arent just blurs lol
Do you do any stalking in you spare time aswell?
try a slower shutter speed
they look minnttt!
Ahh, good photos the 206 one looks awesome.
yeah, it is the kit lens, and although loads of people bag it, it does the job till i can afford something better. anything you'd recommend? i cant quite stretch my budget to anything in canon's L series! i'd use it for sports work and nature shots or something.
the camera was set to shutter priority and it was on continual auto focus.
butters, yep, it's a dSLR (canon 400d). the technique, from what i understand is to move the camera at the same speed of the subject. but not as easy as it sounds! lol. you should be able to do this kind of thing with any (digital) camera with manual control over the shutter speeds/apeture. the camera i have allows you to shoot at 3 pictures per second i think, so you get more than one chance at one car.
andy, i did play with different shutter speeds and wanted to keep them as long as possible before the pics stared to look poo. obviously still too long.
and nope, no stalking in my spare time, that's a full time thing!
