    Dreaded Coupe coolant hose

The 20VT's have a common fault of a split coolant hose that runs from the thermostat then behind the block to the water pump if I'm not mistaken.
Well mine split last wednesday, I gave it some beans off a round about and a silly amount of steam came out the back of the car, so i pulled over and switched it off straight away and spotted where the leak had come from.
I got the fecker of a hose of tonight and this is what i found....

The fooker is 4 inches long!

    Unlucky mate!!

Good excuse to get a samco job or something though! Surely it woulden't cost too much for a new one?

Fiat have a back log of them because it such a common fault apparently. I have one coming to my local Fiat tomoro, weather it arrives is another matter, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

show a pic of the whole pipe. maybe a straight pipe with a few 45degree joiners? if its that common its going to happen again. might aswel invest now than break down again in the middle of nowhere 6 months down the line.

TBH it is a common problem but not so common that it will happen every six months.
They were recalled for this pipe, but i can't find anything in the SH that suggests it has been in for it to be changed. So i would assume that Fiat have resolved the problem by strengthening the hose that they sell and fit.

fiat dont resolve anything mate i work for them, and basically they will just keep selling you the same old ****. You can get sets of hoses from samco or ask if they will break up a set of coolant hoses shouldnt think it would be a custom jobbie
