best stuff to clean engine bay!!

ok my engine bay is looking a little tired and dirty so when the weather starts to pick up im going to set about spring cleaning the engine bay,
i done a little search as what to use it seems a lot of people use and swear by BARRY SCOTT'S secret potion(CILLIT BANG) is there any other things that might bring the engine to a shine does anybody have any tips little secrets etc or even used anything unusual that has worked to a good effect?
