Mondeo's are far far better cars.

Obviously, £1500 isn't going to get him a lot, but I personally wouldn't waste it on a Vectra.

Yup the pug will slowely fall to bits but it looks nice for the cash if i can find a phase 2 306 and they havea fair amount of torque if i ge the HDI

    V6 Vectra estate on 18's.

We had the 2.6 and they are surprisingly economical. On the motorway your doing 80 at 2,000 rpm. Our 2.6 was more economical than it's 1.8 A3 replacement by a mile.
Diesel wise you have a decent choice for 2k. 306, 406, Vectra, Mondeo, BMW, but I'd still look into an Audi, A4 or A6. That way you will get a decent comfortable car that you can get good resale on. Any of the others will be worth pennies when you sell on. Passat as well is basically the same as the Audi but a bit cheaper and will hold it's value too.

306 diesel is the way forward. Cheap to run, free mods that can be done to get the car upto 130 / 150hp. Nice and cheap as well.
