I need your help and great advice NOW!!! please

To cut a long story short my car broke down and had to get it towed to my house, Everyone that looked said that head gasket went on it so a mate of mine took it into a garage he recommended so i was waiting to hear about the price, I kept at my mate whats the price but he just said that he would get back to him. in the mean time the guy at the garage went ahed with the job that cost 565.00 without telling me the price so where do I stand with that?

I then went to the garage to pick up the car after paying for it (which was last night) The guy says oh the engine makes a funny noise is that the noise it always makes eh noooooooooooo!!! so i drove the car to my house, f**K me it sounded like i was driving a lorry the engine was that loud and when i got to my street I could smell smoke and petorl, i called him and he was trying to fob me off saying well it could have came in like that so its now at the garage where it sould have got fixed, I have no idea about cars at all....

what do i do?

i had mine done on the sporting for £350 so i think youve been ripped off big time,

im sure skimming is only £25 and thermostat about a fiver, anti freeze sure isnt £11.

id be mighty pissed of at your mate, but i dont think theres an awful lot you can do apart from do a little research into prices and prove hes ripped you off.

well i would have told him not to do anything until you have agreed a price. may be worth calling trading standard and ask if you have a case as they will tell you straight away

i know you didnt give him the go ahead but you also didnt tell him to wait until u have seen a quote, TRADING STANDARD, they scare the life outta any business

I kept phoning the guy and asking him to get back to me with a price and heard nothing i kept asking my mate to call him and nothing!!!!

I asked the guy why did he go ahead without giving me the price and he said nothing he keeps going round in circles with all of this.

I have the number and printed off the info on the site.
