Come on lads and lasses, i need some info please
Right i think i've shorted my standard ecu, so i've got a spare ecu, the only problem is i'm unsure weather the key will fire the car up due to the code system. I have all 3 keys, red and 2 blue ones. Can i code the key to the new ecu or vice versa?
Thanks
Ash.

did you ever figure this out mate, i have the same problem.
You cant code an ecu to the keys, you can only code the keys to an ecu, providing you have the red key, if you understand
I have seem problem the first coil it is not work , there is no triggering signal coming from the ecu box. pleas if any one have how to solve this problem pleas help.my fiat punto hgt 1.8 16v and I am not from England I am from Libya. pleas teach e.susi@hotmail.com
thank you all
If you have definitely isolated your ECU problem to just one signal not being sent, you may have an easier and cheaper experience taking the ECU to an expert electronics person, who can isolate the damaged chip/chips and, hopefully, (as surface mount technology, or SMT, chips can be difficult to replace) repair it.

Sorry to hijack your post but teying to help out a young lady on another punto page who is having trouble with a W reg Punto she bought she recieved a blue key but not the red one and was wondering if there was anyway she can by pass without buying a new key from FIAT who want to charge £180 ??
Your suggestions will be welcome
what type of punto is it rich?
as for the previous problem in the thread, just to clear up, the ecu's on the GT's are all interchangeable, obviously have slightly different mapping between models and not recommended to use a different one but the key makes no difference whatsoever.
the code in the key is linked to a code box on the rear shelf on the later models but not to the ecu.
Hi Rick i have sent her a message and let you know mate
All she can tell me is its a standard 1.2 ,W reg 2000 no remote immobilisor the code light has come up on the dash cannot tell you anymore than that but she did not want to go down the route of having to pay out the best part of £200 for a new key from FIAT is there any other suggestions ???
