Would a slightly smaller disc/diameter allow it to fit? Where is it touching the caliper? I might be able to do a slightly smaller version of the kit....

Not sure. Does anyone know if this spec: 6JX15H2 would fit over the wms?

    Hi Keri

I'm interested in your MK1 kit, but looking at the above posts they may not fit with the Tipo rims!

Can you have a look at these pics where i used your stencil and let me know what you think.

The stencil was to scale and printed on card.

There didnt seem to be any rubbing, but my worry is once the wheel balancing weights are on then there may be a problem.

    Thanks!

That looks like it would clear, as long as it's 1:1 of course, as for weights I can only suggest that they are put on the chamfered part of the rim, away from the caliper? Or on the other hand, the part right behind the spokes looks like it's got room? The "shape" of the caliper is exactly as it would be inside the wheel....ie it's a rotated section, it's not just "the caliper, end on"!

So if there's room with the template, there's room in real life too.

By the way, the 58mm part is the part of the hub the wheel fits, the part where the DISC fits flares out to 59mm. That's why there are both dimensions on the PDF/template. :-)

    Good thinking, thanks!!

I've just had the wheels powdercoated and balanced so i'll recheck the dimensions.

    Fingers crossed!

Actually, quick question, in the first photo, have i put the stencil in deep enough, not deep enough, or too deep?

Have a read thru this thread, quite a few people are impressed by this kit! Sh00ks rates them on his mk2 and he only seems to use them on track!

I think Superman and someone else said the standard brakes barely last 15mins on a track, these will be much stronger than that, which is why i need them!

I think Superman said they are close to the stopping power of Coupe brembo's but they are about 20mm smaller so can't expect more than that! They are much, much lighter tho and fit under most 15" wheels (hopefully under my Tipos too!)
