I've always said there is no replacement for displacement, but turbos are so much fun to drive!
As debo said the two cars are from different sectors in the market so you cannot really compare them. All depends on what you favour boring n/a or a fun turbo

Q:
If Punto GT was warm hat in 1994. What was a hot hatch?

is say both the punto and vts were hot hatches
These threads always amuse me.

These are a few I could think of off the top of my head. If anyone would like to add to them, then please feel free. All but the VR6 are 2.0's aswell, much like todays hot hatches
Note about the boring N/A or fun turbo comment - please see above list, back in the 90's, turbo's weren't needed to make a quick car.. they are only used these days to keep development and production costs low, and to make up for mechnical inefficiencies

You are such a funny fecker, you love threads like these because you love to argue and tell everyone your opinion that is of course correct.
What you are defining as hot hatches are just cars you like.
What really happened was this
Saxo VTR - Warm Hatch
Saxo VTS - Hot Hatch
Punto Sporting - you got it....
Punto GT.
By your very definition you are saying that both the Uno Turbo and a R5 GT Turbo were only warm hatches.
They were the hot hatch of their day.
Please keep typing **** though, it does make me laugh.

Why is your mission to put down the GT?
For a car that you can buy for £500 (if you are lucky), that will do 0-60 in under 7 secs with minimal mods, there are no cars that compare imo.
Very few cars are as fun either in my books.
Punto Gt no more!
...just likes to argue....

My mission, as you call it, has always been "to open the eyes of the dreamers" - a GT hasn't got Ferrari pace, and it hasn't got Lotus handling... it ends there really. Threads like this are s**t because people always compare modded to standard, and they always believe that their car is the best, no matter what.
I had a GT for longer than you have been driving Tom-Tom, I know what they are all about, and I know how much fun they are. In actual fact, as far as the grin factor goes, they give me a wider smile than my current choice of car. Just because they are fun to drive though, does not make them a better car overall. I've driven a Lamborghini Gallardo, and despite it's pace (it was very smooth being N/A) and handling ability, that too did not give me the same satisfaction to drive as my old GT gave me when I put my foot down and held onto the steering wheel for dear life. Again though, as I said earlier about the E46 M3, I'd rather have a 150k Gallardo on my driveway than a 2k GT.
Gonzo - everyone is entitled to an opinion, I'm a firm believer in freedom of speech. I'm afraid you can't argue with facts and statistics though. Physically and on paper, a GT is no comparison to a CTR, in terms of capability, the CTR is much more able on every level including boot space and rear leg room.
R5's and Uno's are from the 80's - was there even a market for fast hatches back then?!
