i.e a GT is only a warm hatch, a CTR is a hot hatch - which is one of the many reasons why they cost more. The only fair way to compare cars, is standard vs standard, from the same market section, and new vs new.
£12,500 for a new GT back in 1994 - warm hatch - 60 in 7.9 and 100 in 22.5?
£16,500 for a new (basic) CTR in 2001 - hot hatch - 62 in 6.4 and 100 in 16.5
A natural competitor to a GT is the Saxo VTS, which has almost identical figures, and is from the same era.
