1.8 hgt how good is it?

depends on what you want really.

Its nice and refined a better build quality than a mk 1 and has loads of gadgets compared to the mk 1.

Ive had a mk1 GT and a mk2 hgt and prefered the GT all day long for a drivers car. The HGT was slow,thirsty and overhyped so to speak imo if you want a faster car within the same group id go for a good GT.

I like the HGT, if you drive them hard they are quickish. like xploit said, just depends what you are after!

i would reccomend it mate, the GT is faster but the HGT is more refined, more toys, sat nav is not too bad as standard , sound from the stereo and sub is good as standard
