thanks for that information, not cheap then....

wot about an uprated turbo.... stage 2 for example, with a fmic, seb2 chip
induction kit, exhaust system etc, would i be able to up the boost there

this is for gains of about 170/80 bhp not 200

just a cheaper way to gain some etc bhp, but properly, really dont wana blow the engine

just dont try and push too much from an old engine its likely to bite you back.if your serious about getting more power do a proper job and rebuild a block and have it honed and re bearinged and sealed.

wot sort of places do engine rebuilds on a GT?

is it a specialist job, or just any random mechanic?

also wot sort of price is it for a typical engine rebuild?

    cars done 79k so far

If the cars done 79k I wouldnt be looking for a rebuild unless it doesnt work. Dont try fixing what isnt broken mate.

As soon as you get it give it a service, new oil, filter, plugs and possibly leads, even if the seller says its just been done.

And while on the subject of reliability, my GT has 157k on the clock, I fitted a new engine at around 140k but its still on standard turbo 157k!! Granted the head or head gasket has just given up but my point is the standard turbo can handle a lot of miles if taken care of. Also the GT engine is quite simple to work on, ive seen worse.

yea see wot u mean about not needing the engine rebuild,

went to look at it on thursday and the engine seemed to be running v smoothly

the seller did say that he is servicing it b4 i pick it up next week

tbh i do think he is genuine and he's a member on here too

    ud still service tho??

Yeah for piece of mind, as you wont know what oil hes using etc. Every car I buy I give it my own service before I start boosting around. You can get decent oil for around £30, £6 for a filter, £15 for plugs so its well worth doing.

    thanks for the advice

would you but uprated ht leads on/plugs etc

or just go for standard fiat 1's

i mean does it really make that much of a difference puting diff leads n plugs on?

    wot oil u recomend?

    Feck Baz! That's impressive!

I was worried about the future life of mine at 76k when I sold it. Looks like I needn't have bothered!

Tbh, I always followed the 'warm-up/cool-down' rule. More often than not, I always let the temp gauge sit at halfway before giving the Go pedal a bit of beans. Seems to have worked for mine - it hardly touched a drop of oil in the six years I had it.

im running a gt2 on a seb0 (thanks mr hans) with a boost at 16 psi full decat exhaust system and a baileys dv26 dump valve power in return around 165-170 and my engine is on 100500 miles and feels lovley to drive

and yes im fitting a new turbo bt a secretis mine aint blown i got this due to it being reconed last year £100 bargain

like people say a gt is mint unless you cut corners and turn the boost sky high then your engine will just spit and die

start off with a seb0 setup then move upto a 4.11 setup get used to playing with tunning the car its what im doing hoping for 4.11 next year mr hans its all your fault
