Yeah, colour fans looks chavvy IMO (that's the second reason I changed them), and face it, they're no good for longer time. My PC is running almost 24/7 ... and needs cleaning from dust every single month

    lol,

you have a resonable spec tho, (saw the other thread)

my dads crappy 2200+, 512mb and el-cheapo motherboard boots up pretty quick.

or is it just full of junk and downloads (and porn) ? lol

I only reloaded it a few months ago.

I'm not sure but I think it's the memory.

usually memory problems just cause instability (BSOD etc)
chances are it's drivers for something, they quiet often slow down start up

It's been like it for ages. I have the wrong memory for the CPU.

the default FSB for the barton is 333mhz (166mhz in real terms) so you should just be able to run a 5/4 divider that way the CPU runs at 166mhz fsb (333mhz in ddr terms) and the memory runs at 133mhz (266mhz or PC2100 in DDR terms), this would be fine and the peformance drop would be minimal (certainly wouldn't add any more than a second or 2 to the start up time)

However if you are running the memory at 166mhz and the machine doesn't constantly crash or blue screen you then it wouldn't just slow down the system, memory doesn't work like that.

Well there is no other reason for it. It's been like it since day one.
