ive seen the villeneuve crash, thats bad! theres a few fatal crashes on youtube, most of the old f1 fatalities are from fire when they crash!
This video compilation is a true testament to home safe F1 has become, this video again while been an extremely good video insight in to the past is difficult to watch so be warned.

The Videos really do show hoe its evolved in safety terms and how the roll of marshalls evolved from a flag waver t someone who could be the person who saves your life.
SOme tragic superstars in that last film.
Antony
all very unfortunate, getting thrown from the car is pretty much unacceptable from the car manufacturer point
it's just a shame all this safety has made the sport soooo boring!
if they hadn't put in all these restrictions to anything new that makes the cars faster, i reckon formula 1 would be more like the game wipeout or f-zero, super fast, super futuristic... and interesting!
Have you ever been to a Formula 1 race or stood next to an F1 car when it's started up?Originally Posted by rixf666

Yes, they've become safer, but the "boring" aspect you refer to is down to drivers as much as anything else. There just isn't anyone good as Schumacher when he has the right car under him.
Case in point - putting a kink down the Mulsanne straight for Le Mans... yes it means they don't do 280 mph, but they're still hitting 240+ every time and that is with a kink in it. The technology just overcomes the speed barriers, but they remain safe nevertheless (safe relatively anyway).
