    uni time, need pc..

    no idea about computers...at all!!

    am doing automotive technology at uni. so going to be using graphic design programmes.

    also using internet, MS word/office ect, photoshop, msn and general internet usage

    what do i need to look for specs. wise?

    have bout 600-700 squids to splash out i think

    for graphics stuff main chunk of your money needs to be focused on a decent monitor. pointless having high spec and no good means of displaying it.

    processor wise look for an AMD 64 or Pentium dont touch celerons or anything else budget

    memory your gonna need 1024 or more for graphics apps and runnin stuff simultaneously.

    get a SATA harddrive as they have faster response times.

    a decent graphics card with high resolution support but nothing OTT.

    rest doesnt matter so much (motherboard, audio etc.)

    512mb is nowhere near enough for graphics applications.

    Nothing wrong with Celerons, I know of a celeron dual core for about £80 that be overclocked and p*ss over the AMD X2 4800 which was about £450, not about £200, still good though!
