Actually I don't think the subwoofer is even producing sub Hz, just mid.
Ok i just bought a new set of samsung 2.1 S3-015(C001) speakers to upgrade my sound a bit and add a bit of bass via the subwoofer.
I am also using a 5.1 sound card.
I got it all in and ran it off the normal green terminal on 5.1 sound setting still and only one speaker worked and the subwoofer was only playing mid. Went to adjust my card and found it didnt have a 2.1 setting?
No problem, basically after faffing on I found the black terminal (i beleive is normally subwoofer?) to allow both speakers to work and the subwoofer to perform correctly (this was on 4 speaker and 5.1 setting). Only problem is it still doesnt seem to a decent volume without distorting, and the sub deffinatley is not at full potential!
Im not sure if this is just due to the speakers being crap, or if its not getting the best signal it can from the card due it being tuned in for 5.1? Can you get 2.1 cards, if so is it worth getting one? Can't see you getting specific ones mind as there is only one output coming off the speakers.
Basically are my speakers crap, or do I need a better card that is set up for these speakers?

I'll start with question: what kind of sound card are you using? Is the sound card integrated with your MB?
No its a 5.1 sound card. Im not sure what make it is though im affraid
and are you using the correct drivers and sound suite to set it up? if it is distorting check you havent got the equalizer messed up, or any of the enviroment settings on (like concert hall etc)Originally Posted by CaL
Are you running in 5.1 mode within Window's audio control area?
Found out its a Trust 514DX 5.1
The program im using for the sound card is 'C-Media Mixer- no effects are on and the equaliser is flat. Like I said the sub is only using mid range?
