did you install the motherboard drivers when you reinstalled the OS?
My comps still not right, intention is to format the C once ive sorted out what i want from it and start a fresh, but want to get my photos on to my second drive, i use a usb reader with SD card, but comp wont see them even though the light on it comes up, any help would be much appriciated.

yeah, that sounds like a problem with the drivers.
The light will come on even if you plugged it into a playstation2, doesent mean it recognises it though, that just a power supply.Originally Posted by Daniel

light appears as there is power via the USB as it's connected to the motherboard.
wonder if you should try and install 'chipset' drivers for the MB. via CD or download of the manufacture's website.
Daniel, go to the System Properties and post on here if there are any with a yellow '?'. There is most likely to be one there. If there isnt plug in the USB device your trying to use then do it again. It could be that the USB port drivers are corrupt/not installed or the drivers for the USB device are corrupt/not installed.
**To get to the System Properties right click on My Computer then left click on properties. In the new window that opened click the hardware tab at the top then click the Device Manager button.**

Guys im really ****ED off now, spent ages tryign to sort this, there is no Universal Serial Bus controller in ym device manager, downloaded new drivers for motherboard btu the ****ers wont 'setup' re-installed everything on motherboard CD and still **** all.
