my friend has recently started working for vw, currently he has the new golf gti for his company car,so it was only natural to ask for a competition!
i got a good start in terms of reaction time but the actual launch was poor, by 50mph he was starting to pull away, by 80mph he was gone!
i think if i had a better start, that up to 60/70mph it would be fairly even but the gti would then really pull away.
any one else had a encounter?

True, that was when it was running about 20wbhp less too. SEB2 GT vs GTi should be pretty equal in a straighline. R32 is a different story though.
The GTi's or whatever get RR from 200-212hp dont they? and torque anything from standard to 250lbs?
Mine will be the same engine only 4wd and nicer insideremapped is 260hp they reckon from revo and 0-100 in 14s, should be quite nippy.

for my next car i thinking s3 (but it's prob still a bit expensive for me at the mo), a3 1.8 T quattro, or ibiza cupra
New S3 is same engine but torsen 4wd 60:40 with 260hp out in November.
Its got a silly title like A3 2.0T FSI Quattro S-Line Special Edition.
You can just hear Clarkson ripping into a name like that in front of the 'cool wall'!
