A little help please peeps

Have the option of having a company car allowance with my new job. other 2 options are a fully expensed mondeo diesel (new) with fuel card for private and work mileage. Or same car but pay for your own fuel and claim your business mileage back. obviously from a tax point of view the allowance is the way to go. Also i have a 106 gti to sell and put the money into new car.What if any cars would people reccomend. So far i have for around 5000 the following ideas.

Volkswagen lupo diesel either sdi or tdi
Volkswagen golf tdi.

Anyone any other ideas???

I have pretty much the first option you describe, with a 2.0 TDCI 130 zetec. Regularly does 47mpg, nice torquey engine and an enjoyable chasis. I'd seriously consider that option, mate.
