    External USB2 Hard Drive

    Ive just bought a USB2 external hard drive, pluged it into a USB2 port but the transfer speed is only running at USB1 speeds

    any ideas? any Windows usb driver updates i could try?

    sounds like the usb hub you have on the drive or comp is usb 1. My dads is like that.

    nope, i used a program called USB Info and i says its USB2 and running fine

    i think if you have external power then it runs at USB2 speeds and if not it goes at USB1.1

    that is what happened with a friends
