172's are sweet, put a extra few grand treat yourself and get the 182 in that nice yellow colour

if you think a standard gt is laggy then try a t28. if you drive the car properly it is not laggy with a standard turbo, you must be flooring it at 2k in 4th!!

right gear right time, no problem

Insane to choose a Renault over a Seat!!!

The Clio is made from paper, thats why its so light, and fast.
The handling is the only thing that the Renault has better.

But I doubt it would be faster than a Revo'd Cupra.

Even if it is, you can spend a little money on a K03s turbo and see off any Clio.

My mate thrashed a 182 the other day and his setup is same as mine! (Revo'd). It was on a straight though.

    Sum it up

Speed - Id say Cupra, but others say Renault.
    Handling - Renault as standard.
Looks - Personal choice, I prefer Seat by far, Clios are generally girls cars.
Build Quality - Seat by FAR!
    Reliability - Seat by FAR!

Summed it up, although im a bit bias obviously, but I'd never EVER buy a Renault.

renault cup is a drivers car, and will embarass many a modified "performance" car on the twisties.

    standard cupra is slower.

revo'd cupra is faster in a straight line.

seats are much better built and more reliable.

    ... there you go

I must agree with Flip on this. I know everyone, press included, wet themselves about the Clio Cups, and I'm sure they're brilliant to drive. But I personally wouldn't spend £12k or whatever they are on something I could have made.

They also dont seem to have much turbo lag at all, theres power right from about 2k rpm. they really get going at about 4k+ though! ive had a couple of little blasts against other hot hatches and so far the only thing that could keep up was a pug MI-16 engined 205 GTi with somewhere around the 170bhp mark! havent yet been up against a clio cup though, so we'll see!

I cant see many people being disapointed by the cupra although ive never driven a clio cup so cant compare it to that!
    Yes handling is poo! lol

Even people on seatcupra.net admit that mate! lol

People even put spacers on them at the back to try and widen them a bit!
