your car will not pass without a cat.
The problem with de-cats on an MOT, i'm presuming, is the fact that a cat removes the majority of unwanted emissions, so you'll fail that test. Is this true, or do you actually have to have the cat there even if you're emissions are low. Obviously the cat is the only feasible option to remove such emissions, i was just interested if anyone knew.
Also, how often do they wear out?

because it does not have one, or because of the emission levels? that's what i would like to determine
it would be ny on impossible for your car to pass without a cat, so it would be the emmisions

thanks chris, just wondering really
car does not have to have an MOT for the test but like chris said your emissions would be sky high

You what? An MOT is the test. Some cars will pass without a cat on.Originally Posted by quantum capture
Cars which pass without a cat are generally much older though.
And bumforce in theory you are right. But you can tell when someone has a de cat by the amount of shiit that comes out the tail pipe. I remember when nigel got his done, when he was ragging it puffs of black smoke came out. Another thing to remember is how loud a de-cat makes the car - making you more likely to be pulled
i've never seen a cat thats young enough that it has to have a cat fitted by law that would pass an emissions test without one.Originally Posted by xzibit
