Proposal to eliminate txt spk and improve standards of posting on the Forum.

txt speak isn't hard to read, it's just hard to read quickly because your not used to it. to be fair it is annoying but I still dont know what ROFL and all that means so your internetr speak is as annoying as text speak for me. I dont use txt or internet speak so could we a have some kind of what the **** do they mean list?

I agree with mook.

Txt Spk is chav by association. Should be banned everywhere IMHO. That said, ROFL etc are acceptable, as they are acronyms not chav shortenings. Hence PSC, GT, ECU etc are fine (and, for that matter etc itself...) but incorrect usage of language is not.

And* dont give me any of that nonsense about grammar being 'the correct usage of words - this is how I talk therefore its ok' - its not, ban it now. Seriously, to those of you who have got used to writing it, you will benefit hugely from de-learning. It would the same effect on peoples perceiption of you as learning where the is G-spot would have on your sex life.

I'll all up for freedom of expression, but language is so important to making your point (and more importantly making your point well) it merits the censorship of txt spk.

I don't know what's worse. Reading and fairly easily translating words that just have a couple of letters missing, or, reading posts containing *** **** and trying to guess the word let alone the missing letter.

Ditch it or inforce people to type properly.

the txt spk blocker has changed all the old posts as well and now it takes you longer to read a post as your trying to think of what the missing words are...
