    building PC

Hi People not sure if anyone can help but here goes

building a new pc and I think my motherboard has a fault

i built it changing the jumper to make sure it is running at 333mhz. When I boot it up nothing happens on screen

CPU fan and PSU running and HDD and power LEDS are constantly on, you can hear CD drive spinning but nothing after that whatsoever, tried 3 different monitors and a external agp graphics card

    any ideas?

    Reset the CMOS

Basically take the silver battery (looks like a watch battery) out and leave it for about 30 seconds.

    Try that.

Took me ages to work out what you meant then. Is it really that hard to type complete words?

Flip's got the right idea, give that a go. What make is the motherboard, mate?

No display on screen usually means a problem with the CPU.

If you had a diagnostic bracket it would be easier, you get them with MSI and most ASUS boards.

Problem is, what you describe could be any of the following,

    A Short
    Faulty motherboard
    Faulty CPU

or simply just needs resetting (battery method)

Check the manual, there is usually a jumper to clear the BIOS/CMOS with, you boot it , load defaults, then swap the jumper back to normal.

    running a sempron 2400 CPU

Will clear CMOS tomorrow me thinks if not is there anyway of checking if its one or the other without removing it do u reckon?

    Thanks
