    Question punto gearbox help (fitting)

Hi, my dad has a W reg 1.2 (16v?) elx i think although i have not had chance to look at it yet and his gearbox is on its way out. he is thinknig of being totally irrational and trading it in for nothing because he is scared of a big repair bill of 700 quid from the dealer. so im gonna do it myself i have done boxes before but never a punto. i was jsut wondering if anyone knows what variants use this gearbox that i could search scrap yards for and if there are any things i should watch out for hints etc whilst doing the job, or indeed how long a mechanic quotes as a rough idea for the job. basically as far as gearboxes go is it an easy one. im gonna have a look it soon and have a pop on sunday.

    thanks

    Neil

Not sure if it is the same as a MK1 box but they are pretty easy to fit, undo gearbox mount and the rear engine mount, disconnect various connections and gear linkage, undo bolts, pull out drice shafts, and slide out
