    Done It!!!

Finally sorted it out. XP is installed.

I booted form the CD done a NTFS format over my old Win98 stuff.

Everything looks so much better. All the video files I had on before, seem to be much clearer. My onboard sound, which I could never get to work on 98, sorted itself out in minutes. My onboard LAN installed itself.
All I need to do now is configure my modem settings to get back on line.

    Overall, I'm well impressed.

Thanks for all your help guys!! =D> =D> =D>

Lol. I didn't wanna get anyhting else other than 98, cos people were telling me Win2000 and ME, were crap for this, crap for that. So I kept it for years, but its definatley dying out. and its crap for USB's.

WinME is definitely crap, 2000 is still very good (and it's what XP is based on) and has become the industry standard (superseding WinNT) for large corporate networks.

For me though, I hate how XP sometimes wipes your arse when you're trying to do something manually (as usually is the case for me).

W2000 with sp4 is a god, but doesn't support Bluetooth.

    XPPro is good

    XPHome should be avoided.

XP Home in a single-user basic home setup is fine. As soon as you start setting up networks, or if you're fairly computer literate, XP Pro is what you need.
