Do you mean PCI or the new PCI-Express? Manufacturers stopped making the old PCI cards ages ago, as all PCs now use the AGP port on the motherboards instead.

However I'd doubt you'll get one for £100 that will run well with HL2 and D3, but should be playable (does depend on the rest of the spec of the PC too, though).

Card-wise, your best bet is to either get an nVidia GeForce FX5900 or an ATI Radeon 9800SE.

You need to add an extra £20 odd quid to that, and get an ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB.

    That will do you nicely.

Have to find one 2nd hand or a quiet ebay auction to get one at that price.

i bought a Radeon 9800 pro Agp for my Pc only to discover i dont have an Agp slot but a Pci-Express slot instead

So i'm selling the Radeon Pro and have bought this

    Nvidia 6600 Gt Pci-E

    Bloody Good price i reckon

It was a toss up between that and a 256mb X700 XT but after reading many reviews it was the 6600 Gt that came out on top in many of the benchmark test

    Only wish i could afford a X800 xt or a 6800 GT

    Plenty to choose from,

PCI isn't the best for playing games, it's slower at sending the data than AGP.

yes i know, but i have just inherited a dell dimension 3000 so i cant complain.

it just says 3xpci slots, so i am guessing they are the old type.

so i cant get a decent pci card then?

Is this the spec of it then?

    http://reviews.cnet.com/Dell_Dimensi...8.html?tag=tab

Seems a bit cack they put in a fast processor and easily-upgradeable RAM but skimp on the graphics by using the onboard one, and not providing an AGP slot on the motherboard! :-x

If that's the case you're buggered mate, unless you wanna fork out for a new motherboard.

What about Pci-Express. Fater or slower than AGP?

The 6600 GT Pci-E performs equally aswell if not slightly better than the 6600 gt AGP. after reading many reviews
