Pc is sooooooooo slow

Help!

My Pc is really slow.

I had everything changed over into a new tower because the power pack went in the old one. My Gf's step dad did it but cant sort it for me at the moment as he is busy

It is slow at loading windows, opening folders, closing programs etc basically everything.

Anyone know how to fix this as its really pissing me off and I'm getting to close to drop kicking the thing out my front door :x

Whats the Spec of the PC? It could just be that its ****!

Essentially I reckon that there is something running on it, which is slowing it down.

Download and run Hijackthis and then post the log on here and I'll see what I can find that might be slowing your PC down.

I am of course assuming that youhave done a Full Scan of your hard disks with an UP-TO-DATE antivirus program!?!

It was a lot quicker before he put everything in the new tower. i havent a clue what the spec is. How do I find out?

No offence meant here...but you have a huge amount of shite running on your PC which will be slowing it down! :P

First things first....I think you have the blaster worm. Go here http://securityresponse.symantec.com...r/FixBlast.exe and run that tool.

Next, update your antivirus software and do a full check of your hard disks. Either that or go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com and do an on-line scan of your PC.

Now download CWShredder and allow it to find and fix anything on your PC.

Download and install SP2 for XP. Or at the very least go to WindowsUpdate.com and install off the latest critical updates outwith SP2.

I'll get back to you about the lines in HiJackThis...there are loads of them you need to fix!

How did you get on with the AV scan? Find anything?

Download and install SpyBot - Search and Destroy...this will remove anything that I've missed so far.
